New Grants Support a Deeper Understanding of Medicaid Outcomes 12/30/2016 Faculty; Policy; Public Health; Research Share this Story: The Envolve Center for Health Behavior Change has awarded research grants to five members of the faculty at the Brown School and the School of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis to investigate key questions for healthcare in Medicaid populations. The five projects and researchers are: Dr. Derek Brown, assistant professor at the Brown School, will study the impact of “Medicaid Fee Bump” on access to patient care. Dr. Darrell Hudson, assistant professor at the Brown School, will study associations between mental health, health behaviors and type 2 diabetes. Dr. David Patterson, associate professor at the Brown School, will study the profiles and predictors of success in substance use disorder services. Dr. Amy McQueen, assistant professor at the School of Medicine, will study Medicaid smokers and utilization of tobacco-dependence treatment. Dr. Christopher Dy, of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, will study secondary prevention to reduce trauma recidivism and musculoskeletal injury. The Envolve Center is a research collaboration between the Brown School, the Center for Advanced Hindsight at Duke University and Centene Corporation.
