Brown School Closes Leading Together Campaign with Historic $96.5 Million 9/5/2018 Alumni; Faculty; Students Share this Story: The Brown School recently closed the Leading Together Campaign having secured a historic $96,527,225 in gifts and commitments. “Though we can affix a dollar amount to the generosity of our many donors, it is truly impossible to quantify the impact of this outpouring of financial support. Each gift is an investment in our students, faculty, and staff — all of whom have committed to lives to serving others and advancing social, economic, health and racial equity,” said Mary M. McKay Neidorff Family and Centene Corporation Dean of the Brown School. Across the last nine years — the course of Leading Together: The Campaign for Washington University — the Brown School has experienced unprecedented growth. The Campaign sparked the creation of numerous endowed scholarships – more than doubling the financial support for our scholarship program – contributing to over $19 million in gifts to support student financial aid. Investments in faculty included the Neidorff Family and Centene Corporation Endowed Deanship and three new endowed professorships: Heather Cameron, the Michael B. Kaufman Professor of Practice in Social Entrepreneurship; Matthew Kreuter, Kahn Family Professor of Public Health; and Ross Brownson, Steven H. and Susan U. Lipstein Distinguished Professorship in Public Health, to be awarded this year. Hillman Hall, completed in 2015, more than doubled Brown School space, bringing much-needed teaching, research and gathering options. The Clark-Fox Policy Institute, which launched in April 2017, now convenes the brightest minds in public policy to advance social justice and address health disparities. “This support elevates the Brown School community and positions us to have the resources to advance equity for all,” said McKay. “We are deeply grateful to the more than 5,700 donors, the Brown School National Council, the Campaign Committee, and our Eliot Society Membership Committee. I also extend my gratitude to University Trustee, National Council Chair, and Campaign Chair, Gene Kahn, and my predecessor Eddie Lawlor, William E. Gordon Distinguished Professor Emeritus.” “Today’s era of the Brown School is marked by its redoubled commitment to preparing the next generation of leaders in social work, public health, and social policy and engaging in path-breaking research to address seemingly intractable challenges.” Learn more about Leading Together: The Campaign for Washington University.
