Alumni News: Bohannon gives back as Alumni Board member 8/19/2015 Alumni; Community Engagement Share this Story: Doneisha (Snider) Bohannon, MPH ’14, is working to continue the Brown School’s legacy of community engagement. With gratitude for her experiences at the Brown School, Bohannon gives back through her work with the Brown School Alumni Board, which she joined in 2014. Because of her passion for public health, Bohannon is working with the Alumni Board to develop events that expose students at the Brown School to the wide range of public health jobs that are available. She also plans to facilitate and continue to grow the relationship between the Brown School and the local St. Louis community, developing programming that brings the local community into the Brown School. Professionally and personally, Bohannon is driven to work for the good of the St. Louis community. “The issue I’m most passionate about is eliminating minority health disparities,” she says. “I’m working to make sure that everyone has an equal chance at a long, healthy livelihood no matter where they grow up.” The opportunity to engage in research was integral to Bohannon’s experience at the Brown School, and it directly affected the direction she chose to begin her career. At the Brown School, Bohannon conducted research with multiple faculty members, often through her work with the Center for Public Health Systems Science. Her award-winning Culminating Experience project assessed the disparity-reducing potential of banning tobacco sales in local pharmacies.
