Biography
Elizabeth Dodson researches ways in which policy can facilitate healthy decision-making around physical activity and obesity prevention. Her work examines the effectiveness of policies in specific settings (e.g., schools, worksites) to increase physical activity. She also studies the policy process, including the use of research evidence by policymakers and the most effective ways to communicate research evidence to policymakers.
Dodson co-directs the Policy Research Impact working group of the Center for Disease Control-funded Nutrition and Obesity Policy Research and Evaluation Network. At the Brown School, she works primarily within the Prevention Research Center in St. Louis.
While earning an MPH and PhD, she focused her studies on behavioral science and epidemiology. Prior to her public health training, Dodson pursued a graduate certificate in counseling and worked as an American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer. Dodson is also a member of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health.
