The Brown School is committed to providing an accessible and inclusive environment and experience for all program participants. Accessible parking is available in the East End garage located near the Brown School, with entrances at Wrighton Way from Forsyth or Forest Park Parkway. Click here to learn more about parking on campus. The East End garage accepts Visa/MC or cash at self-validation stations for payment. The DUC garage is also available in the unlikely event that the East End garage is full. If you need mobility assistance once on campus, you can request a golf cart to take you from your car to the program location by calling 314-935-3648. This service is available 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

The Brown School has a dedicated space for nursing and pumping, located on the second floor of Hillman Hall.

The Brown School is an approved provider of Social Work CEs in Missouri and Illinois, as well as being a CSWE accredited MSW program.  Some states may have reciprocity agreements with Missouri, Illinois or CSWE accredited programs.  Also, some states allow for some of the CEs to be garnered from “self-study” activity. It is the responsibility of the participant to contact their state’s licensing board to find out if our CEs will be accepted.

The Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis, Professional Development, provider #2130, is approved as an ACE provider to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: 9/24/2025 – 9/24/2028.

Please not that some of our programs do not meet the ACE requirements and there for only offer MO and IL Social Work CEs. Some workshops may meet the MO and IL license requirements for continuing education in Cultural Competency, Ethics, and/or Suicide Prevention; the MO LCSW supervision training requirements; or the IL license requirements for continuing education in Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Specific requirements and CE credit information will be posted in the individual workshop descriptions and on the CE certificate. If you are a licensed professional counselor, psychologist, or other licensed professional, it is your responsibility to contact your profession’s licensing board to find out if our CEs will be accepted.

To earn your CE certificate, attendees must arrive at the scheduled time, attend the entire course, and complete an online course evaluation. ACE credit is not provided for partial attendance.  However, you may still qualify for partial Social Work Missouri and Illinois CEs provided by the Brown School.  If a program has a post-test, participants are required to achieve a passing score in order to receive their certificates.

Brown School CE Certificates will be available online within 7-10 business days of course completion by visiting your learner profile. You will receive an email notification with specific instructions for accessing the online certificate when it is available. ACE CE Certificates, if requested, will be emailed within 10 business days of course completion. Note: ACE certificates are not available for download from your profile.

If a replacement CE certificate is needed. Please email BrownProfDev@wustl.edu with the following information to receive your certificate as a PDF for free: Your Name, Date of Program, and Program Title. A hard copy of your certificate can be mailed to you for a $25.00 fee. Please contact us for hard copy replacement instructions.

The Brown School professional development program is committed to providing quality professional continuing education training. If you experience dissatisfaction with the quality of services provided, please contact brownprofdev@wustl.edu or 314-935-7573 to notify us of your grievance. We will respond within 10 business days of communication in hopes of a collaborative resolution to prevent further similar grievances. Our full grievance policy and procedures are available upon request.

Please verify during registration if your course is in-person or virtual.

Virtual programs utilize the Zoom platform.

Unless otherwise noted, all in-person classes will be held on Washington University’s Danforth Campus, within the Brown School’s three buildings – Brown, Goldfarb, and Hillman Halls. We will send building and room assignments with your registration confirmation. Locations are subject to change. Click here for directions to the Brown School.

Parking is not included in our program registration fees. Visitor parking is available at any of the garages on campus, at a maximum cost per day of $15. Click here to learn more about parking on campus.

Please comply with all Washington University parking policies. The Brown School is not responsible for any parking tickets you may receive.

Washington University’s Danforth Campus is adjacent to the Skinker and Big Bend MetroLink stations. Depending on the specific program location, you can anticipate a 5-10 minute walk from MetroLink to get to us. Click here to learn more about Metro’s service and routes.

A note about finding us using GPS or Mapquest: Individual buildings on the Washington University campus do not have a street address. However, typing in the following addresses very nearly approximate our locations: 1 Wrighton Way. St. Louis, MO 63105

Once you have registered, there are no refunds, unless a class is canceled or there is no space in your requested class.

Students wishing to cancel a registration will receive credit towards another Brown School professional development class, provided they give 3 days’ notice of their change in plans. Proration of fees for partial attendance is not possible.

An individual with a paid registration may designate a colleague or friend to attend any single meeting workshop in their place. Registration discounts cannot be transferred and may result in a balance due. Please contact us at brownprofdev@wustl.edu or 314-935-7573 to change the name and contact information of the registrant. Designees may not be sent to partly attend a multi-meeting class.

In order to preserve an orderly and respectful classroom environment, the Brown School reserves the right to dismiss any participant who is disrupting the learning of others. In the event a participant is dismissed from one of our programs, no refunds will be provided.

Effective June 2024, we have launched a new Lifelong Learning Extended Education registration system with enhanced user features and security. LOG IN using your email address OR create a new account if you are a new user. If you experience any log in issues, please contact us at brownprofdev@wustl.edu. Do not create another account if you believe you already have one. If you have taken a Professional Development course since April 2019, your account and records have been transferred for you.

Discounts may vary by program, duration, or affiliation. All available discounts will be listed on the registration page. Only one discount may be applied at a time.

• Current WashU Student Discount: Save over 60% off general admission on all eligible workshops. Must be a currently enrolled full-time student at WashU or the Brown School.
• WashU Affiliates Discount: Save over 30% off general admission on all eligible workshops for current Field Instructors, WashU staff and faculty, and WashU or Brown School alumni.
• Group Discount: Non-profit or similar organizations interested in a group purchase of 10 or more general admission workshop seats may contact us at brownprofdev@wustl.edu to discuss a group discount.
• Multi-Workshop Discount: Save over 20% on each eligible workshop when registering for 3 or more off the general admission price!

Discount must be applied to each eligible workshop in your cart during the check-out process.
Eligible workshops include most 3-hour standard workshops. Not applicable for On-Demand Lectures, some Intensive Training Institutes, or Advanced Learning Certificates. Discounts cannot be combined with other offers. Discounts cannot be used retroactively for workshops already purchased.

All participants must complete an online application, including the submission of their current resume, for each certificate program. All applications will be approved on a rolling basis, normally within 2 weeks of submission. All applications must be submitted prior to the application deadline date.

Additional program prerequisites may be required and will be detailed on the individual program website, such as including a Statement of Purpose, specific program or computer skills, and/or educational requirements.

Unless otherwise noted, the tuition/registration fee for all certificate programs is $1,995.00.

The Brown School accepts payment by credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover), by check payable to Washington University, or by Flywire for international participants. If required by an employer, the School can issue an invoice for program fees.

Participants should be advised that they may be dismissed from a certificate program if their program fees are more than 30 days past due. If there are any unpaid fees at the close of the program, a participant’s certificate will be held until their account is satisfied.

Participants who wish to drop a certificate program should do so via email to BrownCertificates@wustl.edu clearly stating that they wish to withdraw from the program. They will be eligible for refunds on the following schedule:

• Notification one week or more prior to the first class meeting – 100% of paid program fees will be refunded
• Notification less than one week prior to class but before the second class meeting – 75% of paid program fees will be refunded
• After the second class meeting, no refunds are possible

Refunds for transactions completed by credit card will be processed to that credit card within 10 days. Refunds for transactions in cash or by check will be paid by check within 30 days.

Each program and instructor(s) will determine what options may be available to someone who misses a class session. If someone knows they will miss more than 3 hours of class time, they should not apply for the particular cohort. Due to the importance of class participation and engagement in in-class exercises, it is not possible for a participant to satisfactorily complete a program with less than 80% attendance. No proration of program fees is possible due to partial attendance.

Participants will receive their certificate at the close of a program based on satisfactory attendance and successful completion of the final project or program assignments. A participant who does not meet these standards will not receive a full certificate for the program; upon request, they may still receive a social work CE credits reflective of actual contact hours in class. Delivery of both the Certificate and CEs is contingent on the participant having paid all program fees.

CE certificates will be delivered electronically within 2-3 weeks following the final class date. Advanced Learning Certificates will be mailed within four weeks of the date the instructor posts that the participant has successfully passed the program.

Our policies should not be considered to be comprehensive and may be updated at the discretion of the Brown School. All policies that govern operations and student conduct at Washington University’s Brown School are also in effect for participants in the Advanced Learning Certificate Program, except to the extent that those policies differ from the above.

The Brown School reserves the right to dismiss any participant, with or without prior warning, if they are disruptive to the learning experience of others. In the event that a student is involuntarily dismissed, program fees will not be refunded.
