Two Brown School alumnae are featured in St. Louis Magazine’s 2025 A-List Editors’ Choice Awards: People Shaping the Region

Linda Nguyen, MSW ’15, and Samantha Stangl, MSW ’13, are among 10 local leaders honored for their work in driving the region forward.

Nguyen is the executive director of the Community Builders Network of Metro St. Louis, where she works to boost the capabilities of neighborhood organizations that are leading change at the local level. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she moved to St. Louis in 2013 to pursue her master’s degree in social work.

Stangl serves as executive director of House Everyone STL, a nonprofit working to end homelessness in the St. Louis area by using data-driven solutions that support community service providers and drive systemic change. Stangle is a 2019 recipient of the Brown School Emerging Leader Award.

“Linda and Samantha embody the heart of the Brown School’s mission. They are advancing equity, strengthening communities, and driving systemic change as leaders,” said Dorian Traube, the Neidorff Family and Centene Corporation Dean of the Brown School. “Their recognition reminds us that the impact of a Brown School education doesn’t stop at graduation. It grows, multiplies, and shapes the region we call home. We’re proud to see their leadership honored.”

Jason Purnell, president of the James S. McDonnell Foundation and an associate professor at the Brown School, was also included on the list.
