Dr. Kimberly Johnson, Assistant Professor at the Brown School, Washington University in St. Louis, has been honored by the National Cancer Institute for a paper she co-authored about genetic mutations that increase the risk of ovarian cancer.
The paper, “Integrated analysis of germline and somatic variants in ovarian cancer,” was one of eight chosen as a Research Highlight for 2014 by NCI’s Epidemiology and Genomics Research Program. The manuscripts were chosen for work deemed to have the greatest potential for scientific and/or public health impact.
The study was one of the first large-scale studies to comprehensively interrogate all genes for genetic variation that influences ovarian cancer. It was published Jan. 22, 2014 in Nature Communications.
